I was expecting an improvement going from the factory GoodYear Eagle Tourings to the Generals, but it’s like a whole different car. Just a massive improvement a cross the board. Quieter, better ride, more confident on dirt and gravel, vastly improved steering feel, quicker turn in, better controlled rear-end, higher fuel economy(!), it just goes on and on... It feels legitimately sporty now, not just “sporty for a small SUV”, but “take it to the mountains and flog it for entertainment” sporty. The suspension tuning feels even better realized with the improved tires, the compromise between ride quality and handling is so well judged... I mean, really, this is great work on Hyundai’s part and I now really know why it is that the Kona comes with Khumo Ecsta 4xs in some markets. It reall y deserves a better tire than those GoodYears. And now it has them ;) The G-Max AS-05s are great!

I have the precursor to the AS-05s, the AS-03s, on my Mustang. I have always loved them. Much stickier than the Pirellis from the manufacturer. They’ve seen me through a whole lot of rain and snow without issue. Plus the AS-03s tread pattern is pretty neat.

Not sure how much snow you get but my as- 03 are shit in the snow.

I’ve run AS-03s as well, great tire, but NOT a snow tire. They were fine in cold rain though...

I’ve had AS-03s on my ‘98 V70AWD and on my ‘11 Elantra Touring, they were a great 3-season tire, good treadwear for the grip, and very good wet manners, but I never would have described them as “good” in the snow. I had dedicated winter tires for both of those cars, and plan on that for the Kona too.

I live in Maryland, so not that much snow. I did take them on a 20 mile drive the day after a bad snow storm last winter and had to drive about 30mph the whole way because the roads were frozen over , but goddamn we got there eventually!
